So Much to BeThankful For!

I know we usually reserve giving thanks on Thanksgiving Day. But how can we not take the time to reflect on all that has occurred in 2008. I don't know about you, but I have a huge list of things that I could easily complain and grumble about. I have an even longer list of things that I could say happened that made me believe at one point or another that I would not even see the end of 2008! But here I am. I'm still alive, breathing, in reasonably good health, of sound mind and body, living my dreams of a literary career, all thanks to God and the calling placed on Carl Weber to start the Urban Christian line. I am grateful to have a multitude of family, friends and loved ones who love me soooo much. I have two wonderful sons who are not somewhere robbing, thieving, hurting, drugged out and who love me with all of their hearts. God has blessed them to be great men! I have three wonderful grandsons that God has blessed me with, simply because he knows how dear and near boys are to my heart, and they are three loving, kind hearted, spirited young men. I thank God for His grand favor over my life and my family, for His endless blessings, for His unwavering, goodness and mercy toward Me. I thank Him because He loves Himself some Shelia. Then I give God glory, praise and honor for all the bad times in 2008 that he brought me through. Times when I thought I would never make it out of the valley, but yet He saw fit to reach down and pull me up again and again. He gave me hinds feet to make it up to the high places! I thank God for this beautiful time of year when we can take the time to celebrate and commemorate His birth. It is because of the birth of Jesus in a manager that we are here today. It is because of His unconditional love for us that we can live our lives, whether they are filled with troubles or overflowing with riches. We are still blessed to be living. As long as we are living, and the blood is running warm in our veins, we have a chance to make things right, to make things better, to do better, to be more appreciative, to make a new start. I can only speak for myself when I say: God I love you for loving me. God I praise you for never letting go of me. And God I say, thank you that you were born so that I might have a chance to live eternally with you one day.

Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday Jesus
Your Child, Shelia!
God Bless You All!

Shelia - Thank you so much for your friendship. I thank my God that He did foresee that we needed each other and allowed our paths to cross over forty years ago. Ours is a special relationship that goes beyond a mere acquaintanceship. It's made of the "good, storm whethering stuff".
Hah, the devil don't like it either.

Walter Hawkins said/sang it best:

Tragedies are commonplace
All kinds of diseases
People are slipping away
Economy's down people can't get enough pay
As for me, all I can say is
Thank You Lord for all you've done for me

Folks without homes
People are in the streets
And the drug habit some say
They just can't beat
Muggers and robbers
No place seems to be safe
But You've been my protection
Every step of the way
And I want to say
Thank You Lord for all
You've done for me

Hey, it could've been me outdoors
With no food and no clothes
Or just alone without a friend
Or just another number
With a tragic end

But You didn't see fit
To let none of those things be
Cause everyday by Your power
You keep on keeping me
And I want to say
Thank You Lord for all You've
Done for me
