Prodigal Runsome Speaks Out About Love, Life and Friendship!

The first time I laid eyes on my best friend, Teary, I was just a young boy. Shucks, I wasn't even thinking about some stupid ole girl. But when she bounced out of that Chrysler and her pigtails went to swaying in unison with the wind, I think I fell in love at that very moment. My little boy heart almost popped right out of my chest. I was already mad because my one and only friend, Amos Small, had moved out of the neighborhood. Teary and her folks moved into his old house. I really missed him 'cause not too many of the other kids wanted to play with me. I guess because I wore those big round eyeglasses that seemed almost larger than my entire face, and to me, I wasn't exactly a kid that people swooned over. But when Teary moved in, my life changed, and I do mean changed! I know some of you might think that kids don't know the meaning of love. And maybe when we are kids, we can't exactly put our feelings into words, but I don't think that means we don't know about loving. As a matter of fact, even though I'm a man now, I believe that it's the little kids who display the kind of love that God tries to instill in some of us hard-headed adults. You know, unconditional love. But we're mostly too wrapped up in the physical or how the other person makes us feel. We love one person today and another person tomorrow. The only time we come close to loving someone like a little child is when we are blessed with a good friend. And I mean a real good friend. Not the fake kind that pretend to be your friend and then stab you in the back. I'm talking about the kind of friendship that me and Teary have. It's indescribable. I wouldn'thave a problem laying down my life for her. That's what the bible says, "greater love has no man than to lay down his life for a friend," or something like that anyway.Look, people, let me close this conversation. I don't know what else to say about the matter except that into each of our lives there's something that lurks within that causes us to do some crazy stuff. I think I'm learning that life is definitely a game and if we're going to win at it, we have to play the cards we've been dealt just right. So there you have it. That's my take on love, life and friendship.
I'm out! At least for now.

Hi Prodigal, I really enjoyed reading your story! You really know how to LOVE a woman! I have one question for you, why did your parents name you Prodigal? What's up with that?

Leslie, sorry it took so long to respond. Things have been hectic around the Fullalove household with the twins plus Elizabeth Faith. But really, I guess I won't complain about a thing. Life is good right about now. As for my name...what can I say but that both my parents were God-fearing Christian folks. Prodigal was a young man in the bible who squandered off his inheritance but after realizing the error of his ways, he returned home and was accepted by his father without judgment. somehow, though it was never said, I'm just like the guy in the bible. I was wondering around in my life, wasting my time and my purpose on feeling sorry for myself and being bitter. When God revealed to me the error of my ways and opened my eyes and my heart, then I ran into His arms and he accepted me and loved me. I know that's not really answering your question but it's the best I can do. i'll have to ask my mother and see what she has to say about it.
